The premise

An evening built around one pairing: what to modernize, and what to pour with it.

vFunction and AWS are bringing together a small group of engineering leaders in Munich for an evening of small courses, paired pours, and a candid conversation about modernization — what's actually working, what isn't, and what it takes to move off legacy architecture for good.

The pours

A wine list worth talking about.

The lineup is being hand-picked for the evening. We're keeping the exact bottles a surprise — you'll find out at the table.

What we can tell you: every wine on the list has a version of the same story. A winemaker who started over with almost nothing and changed what an entire region was capable of. A producer who stepped outside their own region's rules to make something better with the land they actually had. A small team building something serious in secret, well before the market was ready for it. Different eras, same instinct — see further than the rules allow. It's not a bad parallel for tonight's conversation.
